Care & Questions
How do I care for my wool rug or blanket?
Our pieces are handmade from natural wool and designed to last for many years with proper care.
For everyday maintenance:
- shake out dust outdoors when possible
- vacuum gently without a rotating brush
- avoid excessive moisture
- keep away from prolonged direct sunlight
Natural wool is durable, breathable, and naturally resistant to dirt and odors.
Is shedding normal?
Yes. Slight wool shedding is completely normal, especially during the first months of use.
Because our pieces are handmade using natural wool, loose fibers may appear at first and gradually decrease over time.
Can I wash my wool blanket or rug?
We do not recommend machine washing.
For best results:
- spot clean gently with cold water
- use mild wool-safe soap if necessary
- avoid harsh chemicals or bleach
- lay flat to air dry
For larger rugs or deep cleaning, professional dry cleaning is recommended.
Why does my item look slightly different from the photos?
Every piece is handmade in very small batches by artisan families in Ukraine.
Small variations in:
- color
- pattern
- texture
- size
are natural and part of what makes each item unique.
No two pieces are exactly alike.
Are these pieces really handmade?
Yes — absolutely everything is made by hand.
We work with small family artisans in the Carpathian region of Ukraine who have practiced this craft for generations.
From preparing the wool to weaving each rug or blanket, every step is done manually using traditional techniques.
How many pieces are made of each design?
Most designs are produced in very limited quantities — often only 1 to 5 pieces per batch.
This means your item is truly unique and not mass-produced.
Will my wool item have a natural scent?
Sometimes yes.
Because we use real natural wool and handmade processes, some pieces may arrive with a light natural wool scent that fades over time.
Many customers actually love this because it reflects the authenticity of the material.
Are your products pet-friendly?
Wool is naturally durable and easy to maintain, making it a great material for homes with pets.
However, we recommend keeping claws away from woven textures and regularly shaking or vacuuming the item to remove pet hair.
Where are your products made?

How long do handmade kilim rugs last?
Handmade wool rugs are known for their durability and long lifespan. Often lasting 50+ years
Our rugs are handmade using natural wool on a cotton foundation by artisan families in the Carpathian region of Ukraine. Because they are crafted entirely by hand and made from natural fibers, they age differently than synthetic or mass-produced rugs.
In high-traffic areas, the rug will usually maintain its fresh, full appearance for around 5-7 years or more depending on use and care. Over time, you may begin to notice:
- gentle flattening of the wool
- softer texture
- light fading
- a more lived-in appearance
However, this is considered a natural and beautiful part of aging for handmade wool textiles.
Unlike synthetic rugs that often simply wear out or deteriorate, natural wool tends to age gracefully. Many vintage wool rugs become even more beautiful over time, developing warmth, character, and a softer organic texture that people grow to love.
The rug itself can continue serving for many additional years after these visible changes appear, especially with:
- regular gentle vacuuming
- avoiding excessive moisture
- limited direct sunlight
- use of a rug pad in high-traffic spaces
Every handmade wool rug slowly adapts to the home and the people living with it — which is part of what makes artisan textiles feel so personal and timeless.
