Vintage Ukrainian Wool Kilim Rug, 1970s–1980s - Carpathian Ember Mosaic, 7' × 4'6"

A rare vintage handwoven kilim sourced from the Ukrainian Carpathian region and dating approximately to the 1970-80s. Woven from sheep’s wool, this substantial textile features the bold geometric language traditionally associated with Hutsul and wider Carpathian weaving.

Its rhythmic horizontal bands, stepped diamond medallions and stylized geometric forms reflect a centuries old regional design tradition. Such motifs were inspired by the natural world and inherited folk symbols, passed from one generation of weavers to the next. Over time, many of these ancient forms became treasured decorative elements, with each village and artisan developing their own variations.

A one-of-a-kind vintage textile, selected for its color, craftsmanship  and unmistakable Carpathian character.

Condition: Beautifully preserved vintage condition. The rug retains its rich, vibrant colors and has no holes or visible stains. Only very minor age-related wear is present, consistent with the history and character of an authentic vintage textile. All condition details are accurately shown in the photographs. These subtle signs of age are minimal and do not affect the overall beauty, integrity, or visual impact of the piece. An exceptionally well-preserved example for its age.
